NRS Clinical Lead recommendations on opioids

Professor Lesley Colvin, NRS Clinical Lead, contributes to an article in The Conversation reviewing all currently available evidence regarding opioid prescription for chronic pain.
Alongside Blair H. Smith, Professor of Population Health Science, University of Dundee, Professor Colvin has compiled and reviewed the evidence regarding the prescription of opioids and their effects over the long term.
Their work finds that while there is evidence that long-term use of opioids may be harmful, they should still be used for chronic pain when appropriate – listing the key recommendations, and recommendations for the impact on patient care going forward.
