Vacancy: Scientific Officer, Research Ethics Service (East of Scotland)

The East of Scotland Research Ethics Service (EoSRES) is looking for a Scientific Officer to lead the East of Scotland regional ethics service
The Scientific Officer is responsible for providing high quality, specialist and professional advice to two NHS Research Ethics Committees, researchers, funders, sponsors, employers, care organisations, and professionals on the extent to which research proposals and research applications comply with national standards, current legislation and recognised ethical standards.
The Scientific Officer will review all research applications, attend Committee meetings to provide specialist advice and information to the Committees on request and ensure that the issue of ethical opinions are in line with legislation and policy. The post-holder will also assist researchers with the preparation, review and revision of applications to facilitate ethical review and respond to general enquiries submitted in regard to the requirement for NHS ethical review.
The post-holder is accountable to the health boards of NHS Tayside, NHS Fife and NHS Forth Valley and is directly line managed by the R&D Director, NHS Tayside.
The successful candidate will be educated to postgraduate degree level in a clinical or life sciences related subject or have equivalent experience.
Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as proven project management skills.
